Confession: I am absolutely TERRIBLE about routine car maintenance. I know I am supposed to check my oil, I know I am supposed to read my owner's manual to read the manufacturer's recommendations, I know I am supposed to change my oil, air filter, oil filter, tire pressure, rotate tires, etc. I KNOW. I KNOW. It's time consuming and I kinda sorta often forget until I look up at the reminder sticker and say UH OH! I don't enjoy going to get an oil change - it's a time suck. I have been getting my oil changes done at Walmart for a few years because I can kill multiple birds with one stone. Convenience and saving money= a happy mom.
Meet "You're my girl, Blue!". She's a good and reliable car. She deserves clean, Pennzoil oil changes. She's getting up there in mileage, so I opt for the High Mileage Vehicle oil change. Pennzoil products are great because they help clean out the sludge that lesser oils leave behind. Living in a dusty desert, especially in a large city, our cars get dirty inside and out. I want to protect my car until the wheels fall off. Since Pennzoil is designed for complete protection and will allow you to drive an extra 550 miles vs a dirty engine and provides the most protection against friction than any other oil, I feel confident. My dad used Pennzoil and I trust Pennzoil. I may not be a DIYer- I trust what my dad used. I love that Pennzoil offers a free warranty.
While Blue was in the hands of the Automotive Care Center, I got some shopping done.
MULTITASKING LIKE A BOSS!
Some of the goals I have for my daughter for 2015 is for more self help skills, more independence and to boost her self esteem. Some days, she feels really limited by her disabilities and I don't want her to feel that way. She wants to be helpful.
I picked up some groceries and some products to clean my car. Like I said... multitasking. Blue is getting cleaned and I am getting much needed shopping done!
I have a ritual, I go to the car wash after an oil change (if I get perishables, have to drop them off). I mean... if the car is going to be clean inside, gotta clean the outside! The Automotive Care Centers offer a perk- they vacuum the front floor boards! Let me tell ya... mine get nasty so I really, really appreciate it! Ha. The day I had my oil changed, it rained. (Murphy's Law!)
However, we went the following weekend and Em was super helpful just to be able to HELP!
Win!
Oil change- check
Clean car- check
Life skills- check
Feeling helpful- priceless.
