I read something the other day- "Collect Memories, Not Things" or maybe it was "Objects" instead of things. Either ways, it made me really think about how much STUFF we have and how LITTLE we do. I am usually tied up with work online, housework, etc and I said enough. Life is too short to be cooped up inside working, working and more working!
The weather was absolutely beautiful this past weekend. It was breezy, under 80 and the zoo was calling us. I was able to pull up online coupons for the Wildlife World Zoo on my phone thanks to having a mobile phone plan with unlimited talk, text, and data/web.
I am DEATHLY afraid of heights. I think the ferris wheel is the ultimate horror show. What bothers me is the wide openness of the seat. No harness. No cage. Nada. I am getting sweaty palms thinking about it.
My child is brave. She wanted to ride the skyride. Sweaty palms and white knuckling the lap bar, we took our 15 minute sky ride. Approximately 30 feet above the zoo, we traveled for 15 minutes and got a nice aerial view. I was pretty sure the noises on the cable meant we were going to land in the Oryx area or something... but alas, we survived.
We made sure to ride the boat, the train and visit the aquarium.
Gotta Instagram while out there, naturally. Thank goodness for unlimited data/web! |
We also visited Mel's Cafe for breakfast. Yes, THE Mel's Cafe. Okay, the show Alice wasn't filmed there BUT the outside is THE sign for the show. The producer drove through Phoenix, saw the sign (it was originally Chris' Cafe), asked the owner if they could change it to Mel's temporarily and show the outside of the show for it. Obviously, the owner never changed it back from Mel's. It's in Downtown Phoenix. I've been wanting to eat there for years and never stopped.
One more memory to add to the collection!
