A Letter to My 13 Year Old Daughter

The last 13 years have flown by and what a ride it has been. 

It seems like just yesterday you were a bubbly baby full of giggles and smiles.

Then the next, you were fighting for your life after a horrific head injury that caused a horrifying traumatic brain injury.

These last 13 years have been absolutely wonderful and it's been just the two of us on this roller coaster.  You have grown into such a wonderful and amazing young lady and I could not be anymore proud.  

Your caring nature is so beautiful.  

You are full of empathy and you are truly a caregiver.  Your teachers have noticed this and that is why you are a trusted teacher's helper! You broke your foot and had plenty to worry about since you injured your strong side of your body and instead of worrying about how you would get around- you were concerned about being able to help the little girl that you help at school! 

This brought tears to my eyes that my little girl is so selfless. 

You have said many times that you want to grow up and become a mom and a teacher or a babysitter.  You love taking care of others so much and I have no doubt that you will be able to achieve these dreams!

You are so witty and funny. 

I have never known someone who comes up with the wittiest and funniest comments like you do!  I have never told you this but there are many times I am at work and all of a sudden, a memory of something you said would pop up and I will just sit and giggle.  I am sure my coworkers think I have lost my mind.

You are such a fun girl to be around.  You bring so much joy

You are always up for any adventure.  You are so smart and ask the most insightful questions.  Your empathy, intuitiveness and beautiful nature bring so much joy in so many lives.  You are so full of life and happiness!

Thank you for being YOU.
