We Tried The 10 Minute Dinner Kit from Gobble. Did It Measure Up?

We Tried The 10 Minute Dinner Kit from Gobble. How did it measure up? Is it possible to make a full meal in 10 minutes?

This is a review of the Gobble Dinner Kit.

Dinner kit subscriptions are awesome in that you are sent a variety of ingredients to make complete meals.  Depending on the subscription service, you have options for two people or whole families. These kits are not inexpensive but they cost less than going out to dinner at a restaurant.

I am a huge fan of them for times they are in my budget.  With health issues and long hours at work, there are just some days that I don't have it in me to chop up produce and prepare meat along with cooking it and cleaning up afterward.   Those days I end up picking up take out and call it a day.

On the flip side, I like to try new meals.

I was really excited to try Gobble.  Their concept is to get a good meal on the table in 10 minutes and with minimal mess.

So? What is true?

I picked out three meals-
Chicken Vindaloo with Garam Masala Rice
Turkey Burger with Smoked Cheddar & Balsamic Onion Jam.
Country Captain Chicken Curry with Coconut Rice.

When ordering, you pick your day and they have a delivery window between 8 am and 8 pm via UPS.  You do not have to be home for delivery.

I live in Phoenix which is VERY hot (we did get hot a little early this year) and I don't get home until after 6 pm.  When I came home, my box contents were still cold and they were packed extremely well.

Looks like I am creating freezer meals, right? Haha
I love that each meal's ingredients were packed together.

The meat, of course, is packed separate and was on the bottom of the box and the remaining ingredients were packed in baggies- each labeled for its respective meal.  I love that all I have to do is grab the bag labeled "Chicken Vindaloo" and the chicken and know that's all I need vs fishing around for all the ingredients on the list.

The first meal kit I made was the Chicken Vindaloo.  I was SO excited that the chicken was already diced.  Y'all don't know how much that is one of my least favorite parts - cutting raw chicken.  I end up washing my hands a hundred times and STILL feel like I have raw chicken on me haha.

The cards give step by step instructions on how to maximize your time and have the meal on the table in 10 minutes.  Multi-tasking at its finest.

How did it taste?

It was soooooooooooooooooooo good!   The vindaloo sauce had a nice kick to it and the rice was lip-smacking good.  This was definitely a favorite.

Was it done in 10 minutes?

I failed at keeping track but honestly, it was fast.  I would say maybe 15 minutes or so? I do lollygag a bit but it was really fast.  The fact that I didn't need to dice chicken and the rice was already cooked means that it could reasonably have been done in 10 minutes.  Easily.

What about the rest of the meals?

Turkey Burger with Smoked Cheddar & Balsamic Onion Jam.

Oh man, this was sooooo good.  The balsamic onion jam was INCREDIBLE.  The bun was great quality, the cheese was out of this world and of course, arugula makes EVERYTHING better.  The green beans were good but... bland. They did need a bit of flavor.  Was this a 10-minute meal? Nope.  That was also a bit of an issue on my part.

I thought that I was only sent a 2 person version of this meal and I was a bit disheartened.  Then I thought, wow, that is a lot of turkey for one burger.  Well, it turns out there was a second bag of the buns, cheese, etc and it really was a four person meal and I made ginormous burgers.  Ha.  Total user-fail.

Country Captain Chicken Curry with Coconut Rice.

This was okay.   The chicken drumsticks were soooo tasty but the sauce was kind of underwhelming for me.  The coconut rice was a nice, light flavor.  This one definitely took longer than 10 minutes but that's okay.  I think after the flavors of the vindaloo and the turkey burgers- anything would be underwhelming.

Not sure I would get the Country Captain Chicken Curry with Coconut Rice again but the others? Oh heck yes.

The cost:

11.95 per meal if you order 6 or more meals and $13.95 per meal if you only order 4 meals. If you are ordering 6 meals, you'll pay $71.70 total. No tax, shipping, or gratuity. No hidden fees.

Where does Gobble deliver:

California, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Idaho, and Utah. Other states are being added!

Can you skip a delivery?

Absolutely!

In Conclusion:

I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Gobble.  They do pretty much live up to the 10 minute meal hype (as long as you don't mess up like I did!) and you're not left with a huge mess to clean up after.

The meals taste yummy and although they are not inexpensive, it's less expensive than take-out.
