Peanut Butter, Chocolate, Banana and Bacon Grilled Sandwich

Did I ever tell you that I listen to Elvis Presley from time to time? I can listen to "Suspicious Minds" over and over. The funny thing is that whenever I listen to it, the movie "Lilo & Stitch" starts playing in my head and then I think of peanut butter and banana sandwiches, which was supposedly one of Elvis' favorite foods. After THAT pops into my head, I then daydream about a little sandwich cafe my sister and I went to that had a peanut butter, bacon and sprouts sandwich on toast (which was surprisingly delicious! I was blown away!). Isn't it funny how one little thing will trigger a memory that triggers another memory?

There are some good snacks and then there are PERFECT snacks.

My friends, this sandwich it falls in the perfect category. It's quick, it's easy, it is made with Reese's spreads, it has bacon, it has bananas... it's beautiful. *sniff* Yes, it's tear jerkingly beautiful. Wait. Did I say REESE'S SPREADS?

Yes.

I sure did.

It does exist! This jar full of peanut butter and chocolate spreadable magic.

Spread it on apples, toast, waffles, spread it on your index finger.. .okay. Getting a bit carried away but you get my drift, right? The opportunities are endless and Reese's new spreads gives unlimited ideas with a distinct taste that only Reese's can provide. It's sooo delicious.

I found it at Walmart in the bread aisle where they have peanut butter and jelly (and other sandwich toppings.). Walmart is having demos of Reese's spreads the weekend of November 13th - 16th. You can sample Reese's spreads with apples! Yum!!! You can go here to see if your store is participating.

I totally said "Ermagherd!" at Walmart. I was uber excited and snatched it like a maniac off the shelf. I figured it would make the perfect Elvis- Inspired sandwich. Amiright?

First- fry up some bacon.

I like mine just a bit chewy still.

Grab your bread and spread your Reese's spreads on it. I put it on a bit thick on one side and spread it corner to corner. You can even put it on BOTH piece of bread and have Reese's spreads coming from both sides. Yum!

Put on some bacon. Put a little. Put a lot. Put as much as your heart desires.

Then put on some banana. You can slice it, quarter it, mash it- there are NO rules here!

Put your sandwich together.

See- this was where I was a bit unsure how to proceed- do I put butter on the bread (kind of hard to do this way unlike when making grilled cheese)? Do I put a pat of butter in my skillet and then cook it that way? Should I have toasted my bread first and THEN put my sandwich together and eat it that way? Should I use cooking spray? Really, ANY will work.

I ended up using a coconut oil cooking spray and went that route. It worked PERFECT and my bread was a perfect golden, my Reese's spreads was perfectly melted and warm and my tastebuds were singing to the angels. Or rather, I started singing "Suspicious Minds". I'm sure my neighbors are concerned because I sing off key and rather loudly.

Peanut Butter, Chocolate, Banana and Bacon Grilled Sandwich

(AKA: The Pseudo-Elvis)

Ingredients:

Bread
Cooked bacon
Bananas
Reese's spreads

Butter/Cooking Spray (your choice).

1. Spread Reese's corner to corner on one slice of bread (of two if your heart wishes)
2. Top with bacon
3. Top with bananas
4. Put second slice of bread on top to form sandwich.
5. Heat skillet with butter or spray.
6. Add sandwich- cook until just golden and carefully flip the sandwich and cook opposite side until just golden.
7. Remove from pan, put on a plate and ENJOY.
8. Totally optional... sing some Elvis.
