My Lil' Apartment Garden

You know the feeling when you just don't feel like doing a single thing? Cool.  That's been me for the past month.  I haven't felt like doing a single thing except watch every single episode of the Tudors and then start on the Borgias.  I'm not sure why but I've just been pretty blah.  HOWEVER, today (President's Day) was gorgeous.  I mean stunningly beautiful. It was in the 70s and breezy.

Em passes to go to the Arizona Science Center for free today.  Arizona State University was holding a Sustainability Festival and it was awesome.  The Science Center is always a lot of fun but the addition of the sustainability festival made it even more awesome.   It's definitely amazing for the kids to be able to think about the future.

The weather was, of course, awesome.  We walked around Heritage Square (you can read about it there) because it was so nice.  It felt good to get out of the house and off the couch.  (I am not kidding... I was a total couch potato for a while.).

Of course, a beautiful day plus thinking about sustainability and here comes the thoughts of growing my own grub.

I am very fortunate that I have a nice, big patio.  Unfortunately, a green thumb I do not have.  I am willing to try and see if I can succeed in growing some produce and herbs in containers!

I have basil, cilantro, jalapenos tomato and cherry tomatoes.

I am excited.

Wish me luck and I am glad to have my blogging mojo back. Haha.

I will keep updating on my wee garden.  If it's a success, after summer and the heat has passed- I will grow more produce!

I was totally inspired by these two books that I have been studying (affiliate links): Grow Great Grub: Organic Food from Small Spaces and The Vegetable Gardener's Container Bible: How to Grow a Bounty of Food in Pots, Tubs, and Other Containers.  Both of these books have been insanely inspiring and if you are interested in small space gardening... grab these!
