I don't know about your kids but my daughter is starting to get that anxiousness that comes with being ready to head back to school. She's bored. It's too hot to really do much outside (it really is!) and finding ways to keep her active, creative and NOT BORED is always a chore.
That's why I am REALLY excited to share this Preteen Boredom Buster with Doodle Crate!
The Doodle Crate is a monthly subscription box tailored towards kids 9-16 to inspire creativity with a fun DIY kit!.
Each box contains an inspiration sheet, quality materials and techniques.
We received an AWESOME kit to make a stained glass suncatcher!
This box is literally full of everything needed to make a beautiful suncatcher.
What I really loved is that not only is the inspiration booklet inspiring- it's very educational. For example- there's a "Did You Know?" piece of trivia and ours taught us that a work of art that is made up of three parts is a triptych.
Well, our suncatcher is a triptych!
I felt that each component was high quality. When I said above that the Doodle Crate came with everything, I wasn't kidding!
I didn't not need to get a single thing out of my own stash to complete our craft project!
The one thing about having a child that is developmentally and physically disabled is that it's hard to figure out WHICH age group of products to get her.
She's been having a lot of fun at her summer day program hence the scratches and bandaids. Haha |
I probably mulled over the Doodle Crate and Kiwi Crate (ages 5-8) for a full day. I was really worried the Doodle Crate might be above her abilities and I am really glad that I did pick it. It worked out perfectly for her.
It also was a great way for us to do something together over a weekend. I did the tracing, the jump rings and she did the glass staining. It brought a little extra bit of closeness by something as simple as a craft together. We both smiled ear to ear.
We are definitely fans and the Doodle Crate is a PERFECT Boredom Buster!
I highly recommend the Doodle Crate for not only developmentally disabled children but for teens. It's a great way to engross a child for hours, spark creativity and STOP BOREDOM! She didn't want to play with the iPad or watch TV the entire time.
WIN!
