BlogLovin + Stats + Google Plus
Are you on Bloglovin?
I absolutely adore it. I don't like their mobile version BUT it's easy enough to switch to their desktop version. Let me back up a bit, I don't like their mobile version when it comes to trying to view my stats and such but to get on there and read blogs, I like the mobile version just fine.
I never really used Google Reader, so it's demise really didn't bother me as much as it did for some. Admittedly, I just used my Blogger Dashboard. However, as I am working towards growth and moving my blog to Self Hosted WordPress in the near future, I was looking for ways to have my blog followers not be really affected by any move I make and Bloglovin is a great reader. I find the feeds, interface and all around user friendly. I like it's clean look and the ease of being able to find blogs to read. Over all, just extremely user friendly and visually simple.
I was curious about whether or not leaving Bloglovin's frame up affects stats. When you are reading a blog post via Bloglovin, their frame stays up and you can easily click "newer" or "older" and read through many blog posts. In case you were curious, I found that Google Analytics did pick up Bloglovin' as a referrer to my blog but unsure if they are hitting X on the frame and closing BL's frame or are they reading via the reader. I find it hard to believe that only 51 hits in a month came via BL since I have over 300 followers on there. It is possible but who knows.
I did find a few posts out there that touch on it, according to The Clueless Girl's post, the jury is out. She did say that Feedly DOES affect your stats. If somebody reads via Feedly, the visit isn't counted on your stats. Ouch. Miss Drifted Snow White has a very thorough post about Bloglovin and stats here, which I found to be very informative.
All in all, I am not sure on the answer but what I do know? Just to be safe, I will just click on the X in Bloglovin's frame when reading a blog- just to be safe. I want my visit to count.
I've also really been appreciating G+. Never thought I would but I am! It's really a source of great community engagement and support. The communities on there are outstanding. It's really starting to pick up and grow and I am starting to become a fan.

Interesting, now you have me curious too! I am loving google+ it really helps with SEO and since utilizing it a lot more, I've definitely seen an increase in traffic from there.
ReplyDeleteI'm one of those still mourning the loss of Google Reader, so am biased against Bloglovin. I'm slowly getting used to it, but it's been slow going. I'm on Google+, but not comfortable there either. I've bookmarked a few how-to posts so I can enjoy it more, but right now it's a little overwhelming for me. I think my mistake was joining too many circles, too fast. Need to clean that up as well. A blogger's work is never done.... ;)
ReplyDeleteI love Bloglovin, finding it much easier to keep up with my fave blogs that way. I'm on Google+, but I just can't seem to figure out how to get the most out of it.
