It's January...

My birthday is Friday.  I am closing in on 40 (eeks!).


I am not a big one on the whole age thing but I do think back to the years of my life.  I know I am so glad my teens are over and long gone with.  Don't get me wrong, being a teenager in the 1990s was fifty levels of awesome but being a teen sucked.  Ha.  My 20s were a nightmare.  Oh well, my first year or two into my 20s were fun but from 22 on, horrible.  At 22, my first daughter was born and passed away.  At 23, my second daughter was born and passed away.  At 25, I gave birth to my Emma and at 26, she was brain damaged.  I've spent the last 10 years coping with her injury.  The trial against the person who did this to her ended in 2008 and although the sentence didn't fit the crime, I was able to have closure and I could finally move forward.  That chapter was closed.

My thirties have been great.  Not perfect.  Not exciting.  However, my thirties have been much better.

I've learned to accept things in mine and Emma's lives.  I've learned what I will and will not tolerate.  I have finally found who I am and I like who I am.
