I am so glad that it's finally starting to cool down here in Phoenix. As Phoenicians, we hibernate for most of the summer and wait patiently for the weather to cool down so we can finally get to enjoy the outside. Since Emma's head injury, I have packed on some serious weight but it's not really the weight that bothers me as much as the weakness and lack of energy I have from being so sedentary. I have been taking baby steps towards some health goals I have set. I am so tired of being tired.
We are extremely fortunate that we have some fantastic hiking trails and mountains right in the heart of the city. I live really close to a small mountain that has a few easy trails to hike and when I take Emma, we can walk the perimeter on the asphalt so she doesn't get injured on the rocky trails.
Being so close to such great hiking helps me with being able to write goals that can be achieved. As I said... baby steps. I don't want to set myself up for failure. I just want to be more active! I want more energy! Really... I do want to lose a few pounds but improving my health is my ultimate goal.
I keep a few apps on my phone to help me be accountable and one of them is the Walgreens app. Walgreens has one of the best apps out there. They make it easy to refill your prescriptions just by scanning the bar code, you can clip coupons and load them directly to your Balance Rewards card and many other fantastic features. When you earn points on your Balance Rewards, you can redeem them for discounts such as 5,000 points will earn you a $5 Reward. Easy peasy!
They also have BR for healthy choices where you can record your goals, your stats, and on top of keeping tracking of your progress- Walgreens rewards you with Balance Rewards points!
I recorded a two mile, moderate walk to my BR for healthy choices and it converted it to 4,000 steps and 40 points! I love it. you can record your weight.
Don't judge. Ha. However, if you lose weight- you will earn rewards.
I love the uniqueness of the app and it's overall promotion of health and wellness.
Have you heard of Walgreens' app?
